I was craving and in the search for boat noodles, which led me to this place. My review is only for the boat noodles, but it is so SO GOOD!! I've had a handful of boat noodles at other places in NOVA, but this may be my go-to spot moving forward. The broth is so rich and (maybe too) spicy. The portion of meat was generous. The bowl of boat noodles really hit the spot for me.

Wanted to give La Ong Thai a try, since I've been looking for more Thai restaurants, and I'm glad I found this place! The Food: I got the Beef Pad Thai and a Beef Thai Fried Rice. The Service: Ordered take-out, but the service was very good! Ordered my food, and it didn't take long at all. I got there early and was in and out quick. The Atmosphere: Nice, clean and spacious on the inside. The decor was very nice and homey as well. Overall, a 5/5. Food was absolutely delicious. I'll be back for sure!

Update with more details on food options: The fried rice here is one of the best in class. Fried rice doesn't sound very adventurous for a foodie but trust me, this fried rice here is to die for! Get it with shrimp or crab meat or chicken or beef, it doesn't matter. I've tried them all and all of them were good. All the other Thai staples were also great. I usually rotate between fried rice, pad see ew, drunken noodles (it's like spicy pad see ew), and pad thai. I get Pad Thai the least because it's too sweet for me. Chicken larb and beef salad are bombs! I also get penang curry from time to time but I must say that one isn't the best I've ever had (it's a solid 7/10). All the other ones I mentioned are either 9/10 or 10/10. Another recent one I've tried and really like is Nua Swan - the dried beef with sticky rice. That combo works well. It's an appetizer portion. The veggie spring rolls I also highly recommend. I also occasionally order tom yum noodle soup. However, their noodles are quite too sweet for me so I don't crave them that often. I tried the whole fried fish one time and I didn't recall it to be good so I've never ordered again. They may have improved it since. The lighting is dim and the place has dark paints but the friendly waitresses brighten up your visit every time - even if you're just picking up your food. I've had their food ever since they opened many years ago. The food quality has been consistent every single time!

My to go lunch spot! I work in the plaza and I love coming here for a hearty and delicious meal. The prices are reasonable and the portions are large. My go to order are the Drunken Noodles. The noodles are always cooked perfectly and have a nice chewy texture. I usually get it with beef and shrimp. The proteins are never over cooked and tender. My second go to is the Panang Curry. It's rich and creamy, another good size portion. It's sweet but also has a great kick to it as well. The Thai Tea is also authentic and refreshing. It does not taste artificial or powdery. The service is always quick and kind. Will be continuing to dining here!

I was in the mood for Thai so I ordered takeout from this restaurant as it was right in the shopping plaza where I happened to be. I ordered green Thai curry w/ chicken, sticky rice and garlic spring beans. I found it interesting that the restaurant noted that they could not alter the spice level of their curries as most Thai restaurants can, however; I respected it. My order was ready in the designated time slot they said it would be and the woman at the hostess stand who gave me my order was friendly. Both the curry and the string beans were delicious and the curry had the perfect amount of spice. The sticky rice was perfectly cooked however the jasmine rice that came along with the curry was overcooked so I'm glad I had the sticky rice to sub. The portion sizes were smaller than what I would say most other Thai restaurants provide, however, it was still very filling, I will definitely be back.

Thai food has to be excellent to get a vote of approval in our house. My daughter in law and her mom are from Thailand. So, they are very picky when they go out to eat. La Ong Thai Bistro does the trick. Yesterday, we ordered my granddaughter's favorite shrimp pineapple fried rice. There were plenty of large shrimp and a delicious mix of vegetables and rice. She really loved it. Another menu item was the chicken satay. The chicken skewers were perfectly cooked and I loved the peanut dipping sauce. Yum! We also ordered pork pad see ew. There was a generous amount of tender pork and noodles. The sauce was luscious. This was my son's favorite. My favorite was the Hawaiian shrimp. Large shrimp, green beans, onion, bell pepper and pineapple. All covered in a mouth watering sauce. I couldn't stop eating it. Service was excellent. We ordered on the phone and it was ready for us when we arrived. It was still warm when it arrived. It was packed well for travel and it made it home with no spills. I can't speak to the ambiance, since I wasn't the person picking it up. But, I can say that it is my son's families favorite Thai restaurant and when you have two members who are from Thailand, that is pretty high praise. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal.

Still a fan! Tonight hubby and I shared a papaya salad and spicy eggplant basil pork. The papaya was a nice cooling sour contrast to the spicy. Main was chock full of pork and eggplant with a nice spicy heat level... just on my edge of spiciness! Always surprised how quickly things come out... so fresh and yummy! Thrilled they are so close to us.

I ordered for take out and the food was great. Today I tried the basil eggplant stir fry with tofu. I really enjoyed that it was the firm tofu and not the hollow tofu skin some places give you. Flavor was delicious but my rice was a little hard. A little disappointed but nothing to cry about. I ordered medium spice and I thought it was definitely at a hotter level. I would say my spice tolerance is above average so something to just keep in mind if you don't handle too much spice well. Thai iced tea was also delicious. Looking forward to trying more from here in the future
